A “minor release” update is coming from X-Plane developers Laminar Research. The update is focused on training as well as bug fixes and a new airport is getting the custom treatment. Let’s have a look!

Training and a new airport scenery pack

The highlight for X-Plane 12.1.4, considered a minor update by the Laminar Team, is a focus on training. The Flight Lessons Update will feature refreshed training centre with updated lessons to get up to speed with your flying. There is also reportedly a new “demo area” which I don’t know if this is a specially setup course in the X-Plane world or if its just a hub within their interface.

There are a few other notable updates planned:

  • Salzburg Airport (LOWS) custom scenery
  • New landmarks
  • A new physics-based camera
  • A new gateway cut
  • ATC fixes
  • Some minor G1000 improvements

Reportedly a more exciting update or updates are coming after this one. We know Laminar are working on an extensive weather update, something partially implemented in the recent update, and sometime down the line we know they have a scenery system update that will hopefully boost the overall look of the sim.
