We’re getting our first look at the new IL-2 Korea sim’s cockpit standard thanks to a new developer update. Plus a new Q&A dev video covers some more graphics related topics as does a short new video.
Mustang cockpit and more

Touting support for DirectX 12, PBR, and other new technologies, the F-51D cockpit for IL-2 Korea certainly shows the advancements of the new sim. The devs say that the techniques involved represent a ‘huge step forward compared to Great Battles’ and that does appear to be the case.
More cockpits will be on show soon with the F-80C, MiG-15bis, La-11 and IL-10 coming up in the spring and the remainder coming by the fall.
They also tease that additional work on Korea will continue post launch saying,
In the fall we will also bring you some very pleasant news about the composition and development of the Korea project, because we don’t plan to stop at the release and it is not a coincidence that two of the announced aircraft are carrier aircraft. And not only them… But for now — let it be a little secret: as usual, we will announce something only when we are absolutely sure that we will fulfill everything we announce.
Also in the update are new pilot model renders as well as a short video showing off volumetric shadows in the atmosphere.
New brief room episode
Focused on graphical features, the latest Brief Room episode talks about technology that they use for the sim. That includes a discussion about how they are doing large urban areas (ironically something that they originally said they didn’t want to do), water and other visual effects.
