If you’ve dreamed of flying a MH-60 on missions in a flight simulator, Miltech Simulations might just have the thing you’re looking for sometime later this year. The company’s latest developer blog post talks about the status of their project while also talking about their new mission system. Let’s have a look!

Project status

Back in February, Miltech Simulations revealed that their next project was a MH-60 simulation working together with Blackbird Simulations. The team is working on the Sierra, Romeo and Jayhawk variants covering multiple cabin configurations and coming with mini scenery packs too.

The team are reporting in their latest dev blog that the project sound, art and livery work is nearly complete on all three variants, the flight model is complete, and systems are at 93% complete. Their Q&A process revealed 210 bugs and have of those are reportedly now fixed.

A release candidate is due soon with a fully internal beta process that includes testing by two US Navy pilots.

Mission system

Miltech is introducing their Miltech Mission Hub. It’s something that they’ve talked about doing previously, however, they decided to wait and see what the MSFS 2024 mission system would offer. Now that its out, and its scope seems limited, they are setting off to do their own thing.

Drawing inspiration from other campaign-oriented games such as DCS and Arma 3, we’ve developed a mission system built around a flexible trigger-action framework. This system allows users to define triggers—such as area entry, time elapsed, speed thresholds, or altitude levels—and link them to specific actions like displaying a marker, playing a voice line or message, advancing mission stages, or ending the mission altogether. Miltech Mission Hub enables both developers and users to create and share missions and campaigns for MSFS20 and 24, both on PC and Xbox.

Miltech report that the system is a long term and iterative project. Launch missions will include Firefighting, SAR, external transport missions with Sling loads, ASW and shipborne missions. Future missions are intended to bring in support for some of their other aircraft releases and include aerial refueling, tactical campaigns, heavy cargo, ISR, and multiplayer. The mission system will include assets such as Coast Guard ships.

The company plans to do a release of the initial mission hub and MH60 on the same day across multiple platforms. The pricing will be mid to high $30 USD range for the MH-60 and somewhere around $10 USD for the mission hub.

They say they want to keep things simple so purchase will include MSFS 2020 and 2024 support. There won’t be any fees or subscriptions.
