Released Friday, Scramble: Battle of Britain has a fresh new update with a challenge for your squadron to take on: the Dornier Do 17! The newly added bomber brings with it some new types of scenarios to tackle and is another stepping stone in the game’s early access launch process. Let’s have a look!

Fight off the Do17

Formations of enemy bombers bigger than the Stuka’s that the game has employed so far are your next challenge for your squadron in Scramble: Battle of Britain.

The latest update to this early access game adds the “flying pencil” bomber that got its start in the Spanish Civil War and fought on into the Battle of Britain. It’s an interesting addition with the other bombers of the battle, particularly the He111, often getting more of the attention.

The turn-based air combat game has received several updates together with the content patch. New missions and an updated UI are aimed at helping players intercept the bomber formations. The new intercept mechanics also involve arriving escort fighters which may bounce your formation if you stick around for too long.

The bombers themselves have required a bunch of features to be added. The entire crew can bail out, they will drop their bombs if the mission no longer seems worth completing and of course the bombers have the series standard features like tactical codes, and a complex and parts specific damage model (i.e. you can snap off a wing, destroy an elevator control, kill the pilot or more).

Check out Scramble: Battle of Britain on Steam for the latest updates. The game is currently on a 10% off early access sale and is available for $26.99.

Other updates

Slitherine Games has also been producing some supporting content that might be of interest to any fan of historical WWII aviation. Their latest episode, episode 3, is focused on the planes of the Battle of Britain while a previous update was focused on the pilots.

Check them both out!
