The news is flowing fast and furious today! Microsoft has just launched City Update 11: Northeastern United States 2 with updates and added scenery for a variety of locales including Providence where FSExpo is taking place today. Let’s have a look!

City update follows yearly tradition

It’s become something of a yearly tradition for Microsoft Flight Simulator to do a city update focused on the area around an FSExpo event. Last year it was Las Vegas and surrounding areas, the year before saw Texas get a series of visual updates, and now its the north eastern United States’ turn with upgraded and additional imagery for a bunch of cities.

Updated areas include Boston and Plymouth in Massachusetts, Newark, Hackensack, Paterson, Elizabeth, New Brunswick, and Edison in New Jersey, and Brooklyn, Manhattan and the east end of Long Island. Of course, Rhode Island is a bit of a focus here with Providence, Cranston, and Warwick all getting imagery updates.

This is a free update as with previous City Updates. Check out more about it right over here on the MSFS dev blog.

What happened to the Statue of Liberty? Reminds me of a MSFS developer :->

Hah! You know I never really looked all that closely at it but it does seem… off! I wonder if there’s a copyright issue and they had to make subtle changes? Or maybe its just not great art 🙂

      1. The statue of liberty is out of copyright (since 1974 if I’m not mistaken):

Not that then! I guess it’s gone slightly impressionistic in MSFS ☺️
