The latest aircraft to release for Microsoft Flight Simulator is FlightFX’s Cessna Citation X. The aircraft is part of Microsoft’s new “Marketplace Exclusive Series” which adds a bit of marketing muscle to this third party developer’s efforts to bring us this fast and capable business jet to the sim. Let’s have a look at this latest release!

Fly high, fly fast

Aircraft developers FlightFX, who have become known for creating some solid aircraft releases for MSFS including the HJet (review), P.180 (review), and the VisionJet which was later incorporated into MSFS 2024. Now they are tackling something a little bit bigger and a little bit more complex with the Cessna Citation X.

This is a fast flying jet with the ability to reach Mach 0.92 and it’s also a high flying one with a 51,000 feet ceiling. FlightFX report that their simulated jet can match the performance of the real one with accurately simulated flight model and detailed systems simulation. Those systems include pressurization, hydraulic, electrical, fuel, deicing, FADEC, engine sync, IRS, CAS and a long list of other features. It has full VNAV, a bespoke Honeywell Primus 2000 suite, realistic performance differences between the winglet and non-winglet variant, support for NaviGraph, a custom EFB, and custom audio recorded from a real Citation X.

Microsoft is helping to market the airplane with a custom trailer and is the debut aircraft for their new “Marketplace Exclusive Series.” The aircraft is, as you can guess, available exclusively through the Microsoft Flight Simulator Marketplace with FlightFX making the airplane available for both MSFS 2020 and 2024 with a single purchase. The price? $29.99 USD or equivalent in the marketplace.

Tutorial help

Like many complex aircraft, a little tutorial time and learning is needed to really get the most out of it and so a lengthy tutorial is available in a video below. You can also read the manual which is located here.

  1. Hmmm…for $30 I can honestly sit at the bar and tell the ladies I own a Cessna Citation X. Not that they’d know what the heck I’m talking about but oh well.
