DCS World Weekend for August 22nd 2025 has come and gone and with it we’ve learned a few more details about the DCS: MiG-29A Fulcrum and some of the included content. There’s also some new screenshots to have a look at so let’s have a look at what we’ve got!

Early access coming soon?

The signs of DCS: MiG-29A Fulcrum arriving into early access are beginning to show. The release of the intro video featuring Matt Wagner earlier in the week is certainly one of them. So too are clarifying remarks on the status of specific features of the project.

Eagle Dynamics has once again confirmed community questions over which weapons are going to be included. They are the R-60, R-60M, R-73, R-27R/T, and R-27ER/ET air-to-air missiles and the GSh-30-1 cannon. I know many will be pleased to hear that the ER and ET variants of the R-27 are available with their enhanced range and capability. An assortment of bombs and rockets are also part of the capability of the jet.

Another confirmation is word that the NS430 (Garmin GNS430) navigation system will be offered and the one development image shows us what the unit looks like as modeled into the cockpit. The addition is not without precedent as numerous MiG-29 cockpits have been seen with a wide array of third party GPS systems in them over the years.

Its worth noting too that Eagle Dynamics has attracted some controversy over the separate purchase of these systems for individual aircraft so that argument is likely to be rehashed again with this offering. At the very least, it is an offering that is included with 3D model in the cockpit and not just a screen on top.

We’ve learned that both English and Cyrillic cockpit visuals and HUD options will be part of the launch, that a pilot body will be an option (oft requested by VR pilots) and various ground equipment visuals (ladder, covers, etc.) are already in too. Liveries at launch are confirmed to offer Soviet Union, Russia, East Germany, Poland, Kazakhstan, North Korea, and Syria. “Many more” are reportedly in the works.

Finally, current progress report says that aircraft systems, damage model, data transfer cartridge, skins, content and bug fixing and tuning are in the works. Obviously, this project overshot its initially guessed at Q2 release date but that is largely par for the course. The 30% pre-order discount remains in effect while a 20% early access discount will be offered post release.

  1. Good to see they included an English cockpit. I suspect we can also expect another round of complaints about encrypted skins to accompany the release.

Yeah absolutely. It seems they are going to be doing that consistently here on in. They can do that but I’m hoping that there’s some sort of tools that are released to help livery artists. The last livery contest ended up being cancelled because of that…

I know not everyone was happy about it being an extra purchase but it is at least there in the cockpit. Do you have it for any modules? How useful is it? Does it inherit waypoints from the DCS mission builder or do you need to do a lot of manual intervention?

      1. I got it way back when the single purchase covered everything, and so far all the additional birds have been auto added in.

it’s great when you’re used to INS/GPS in the modern birds. Has made the Albatros much more enjoyable as it otherwise has no Western Nav. The C101, too, as the armed variant (ironically) lacks TACAN.

yep – pulls in a flight plan from the ME just like the other nav systems.

  3. I hope Eagle Dynamics makes a full fidelity Su-27 one day as it would complement the MiG-29 nicely. I know I have said it too many times here but I don’t feel like DCS would be complete without a full fidelity Flanker.

    1. especially because the game WAS Flanker at one point.

I played the great-great grandfather of DCS back in the Day. Flanker 95 and Flanker 2.0.

precursor to LOMAC, which is essentially the foundation for DCS.
