It’s been just barely a week since the last developer update and now we’ve got a new update focused this time around on the alpha test available to Ace tier Patreon members. Let’s see what’s changed!
The story so far

Back in December of 2024, Combat Pilot made its first release with a special test release for Ace tier Patreon supporters. We haven’t seen many updates to that test version for quite some time, however, we did know that a new one was in the works and it has arrived.
A developer update posted by Executive Producer Jason Williams today confirmed the release and with it a summary of some of the core features updated. One of the biggest is the introduction of the sim’s custom Entropy FM Physics Engine which the team have been busy building since the last update.
Another notable feature is the addition of VR Support which Jason writes is a work in progress and not optimized for performance. This is still the best indication yet about just how serious they are about getting VR in and working.
Right now the content is limited to a test area with the Midway islands, IJN Akagi, USS Enterprise, and limited carrier operations though working deck wires are now available. There’s also a new ocean system, new and updated lighting, sky-dome and celestial map, and various other features too numerous to list.
It’s an alpha test so you can expect some things to be rough around the edges but my previous experience with the test was really enjoyable so it’ll be interesting to see how things have improved and evolved since then.
