The latest DCS World update is out and it is full of updates including the addition of the winter season and dozens of other updates for DCS: Normandy 2.0, Heatblur’s long awaited F-14A early model, big updates for DCS: Kola, MiG-29A Fulcrum, and other modules too. Let’s check out the highlights!

Updates are here

Most DCS World updates come with a pretty long list of updates and the change log will cover virtually everything adjusted within the sim since the last update. There are some standout features and we start with DCS: Normandy 2.0 by Ugra Media which moves out of early access and delivers on the promised winter version of the map.

Ugra Media has done a winter version of the map which adds snow coverage to the map when the map date is set during the winter season. There’s new airfields, new points of interest, new islands (Jersey, Guernsey and Oderni), adjustments to airfields historical configurations during the time period, and various other miscellaneous fixes. This moves the map out of early access and into full release status.

Another map, DCS: Kola is also moving out of early access with adjustments to various parts of the map, new runway markings at some airports, vector data updates, and miscellaneous fixes.

Then we move on to the F-14A-135-GR (Early) variant. With an older RWR system and earlier avionics compared to the late version, F-14A represents the earliest of options for Heatblur’s F-14 series. They’ve also updated the RWR threat library and fixed some input issues.

Then there’s Heatblur’s F-4E Phantom II which has a lengthy list of updates. Chuck’s Guides F-4E edition has been added to the Docs (Mods/aircraft/F-4E/Doc) section, the aircraft is getting its very own EFB (electronic flight bag), persistent aircraft state saving (saving and loading wear and tear through campaigns is now possible), an AI QF-4E aerial target drone has been added, and there are also plenty of fixes.

The last big highlight I wanted to mention are all of the changes to the DCS: MiG-29. Still relatively new on the scene, there are some fixes (though it sounds like not a complete solve) for the autopilot’s oscillations at speed, there are fixes to the radar, IRST, weapon modes, database updates for the SPO-15 RWR, and various other fixes to the module. Good to see progress on many of those items.

These aren’t the only modules mentioned as fixes and updates have come to the Viper, Hornet, Apache, Hind, Chinook and others. Read them all on the change log!

  1. Once again, good new summary. Thanks.

Bringing this up again, I think that Eagle Dynamics needs to make a MiG-23 for DCS World. They were used by a lot by the Soviet Air Force and with a lot of air forces of Soviet friendly nations like Cuba, East Germany, Poland, Iraq, etc… Anyway, it would complement the MiG-29A nicely and serve a range of purposes in DCS from fighting and intercepting to ground attack and electronic warfare. I remeber RAZBAM was going to make and deliver a MiG-23MLA, but I don’t think that is going to happen now after the whole dispute. I apolgise for bringing this up again, but I think this is a must do aircraft, at least after they do the F-15C, F-35 and (possibly) the Super Hornet.

    1. A Mig 23 would be a day 1 purchase for me. Even if it means getting shot down by everything and everyone 😉

    2. We would be very close or already into the MiG-23 Early Access if that stuff had not happened.

We need anyone to make the 23. It was marked as the most important aircraft module for the overall library of available aircraft to fly rightfully so.

      1. Yes indeed. I was looking forward to that one… Maybe we’ll see one from ED’s team?

    3. All Nick needs to do is sell some of his warbirds and pay Razbam what they are legitimately and fairly owed for work done on the Eagle and other planes they sold for a year… without paying them.

      That’s it.

I refuse to purchase any more DCS content until they make Razbam whole. This is thievery.

    1. Yeah I did a quick look about around the map and it looks good! What a long way it’s come from the original Normandy 1944 release.
