The latest DCS World update is out and it is full of updates including the addition of the winter season and dozens of other updates for DCS: Normandy 2.0, Heatblur’s long awaited F-14A early model, big updates for DCS: Kola, MiG-29A Fulcrum, and other modules too. Let’s check out the highlights!
Updates are here
Most DCS World updates come with a pretty long list of updates and the change log will cover virtually everything adjusted within the sim since the last update. There are some standout features and we start with DCS: Normandy 2.0 by Ugra Media which moves out of early access and delivers on the promised winter version of the map.
Ugra Media has done a winter version of the map which adds snow coverage to the map when the map date is set during the winter season. There’s new airfields, new points of interest, new islands (Jersey, Guernsey and Oderni), adjustments to airfields historical configurations during the time period, and various other miscellaneous fixes. This moves the map out of early access and into full release status.
Another map, DCS: Kola is also moving out of early access with adjustments to various parts of the map, new runway markings at some airports, vector data updates, and miscellaneous fixes.
Then we move on to the F-14A-135-GR (Early) variant. With an older RWR system and earlier avionics compared to the late version, F-14A represents the earliest of options for Heatblur’s F-14 series. They’ve also updated the RWR threat library and fixed some input issues.
Then there’s Heatblur’s F-4E Phantom II which has a lengthy list of updates. Chuck’s Guides F-4E edition has been added to the Docs (Mods/aircraft/F-4E/Doc) section, the aircraft is getting its very own EFB (electronic flight bag), persistent aircraft state saving (saving and loading wear and tear through campaigns is now possible), an AI QF-4E aerial target drone has been added, and there are also plenty of fixes.
The last big highlight I wanted to mention are all of the changes to the DCS: MiG-29. Still relatively new on the scene, there are some fixes (though it sounds like not a complete solve) for the autopilot’s oscillations at speed, there are fixes to the radar, IRST, weapon modes, database updates for the SPO-15 RWR, and various other fixes to the module. Good to see progress on many of those items.
These aren’t the only modules mentioned as fixes and updates have come to the Viper, Hornet, Apache, Hind, Chinook and others. Read them all on the change log!
