It’s Friday! DCS World Weekend news time. Some weeks are a bit slow but this one has a bunch of things coming at us. There are new assets from Currenthill MilSim, Deephack did an interview with Matt “Wags” Wagner on flight simming and DCS World, and OnReTech have revealed that their DCS: Sinai follow-on project is the all new DCS: Balkans map. Let’s have a look!
New assets incoming

Developer Currenthill MilSim has contributed some new assets that are coming to DCS World. The pack update will include the Grisha-class Corvette (Soviet designation Project 1124) bringing with it radar, missiles, CIWS point defense gun, and a 57mm deck gun.
The asset pack update also includes the EC-665 Tiger UHT. This is an AI-only aircraft setup in the Bundeswehr attack helicopter configuration. Armed with Hydras, HOT-3 and Stinger missiles among others, it should be an interesting addition to the mix of AI helicopters in DCS.
It’s good to see the core of the sim picking up a few assets from contributors like this one.
Deephack interviews Matt Wagner
Matt “Wags” Wagner was on popular DCS World YouTube channel ‘deephack’ with a wide ranging discussion on DCS World and simming in general. Wags talks about his early sim days flying some classic titles like MiG Alley, the Janes series, Falcon 3.0 and then talks a little about some DCS descendants like Flanker and Flanker 2.0.
There’s plenty of talk about DCS of course and Matt talks about how much more work they had to get into to do the Dynamic Campaign. There’s a bit of a nod to some concern that the campaign is only setup for Caucasus, which it is in testing, but it is intended to use all maps and apparently multiple time periods as well. There’s some talk about the F-35 and how they are able to do that and how there is a desire to bring in more 4.5 Gen and 5 Gen fighters. Matt even suggests that he’s really hoping to see a AH-1 Super Cobra some day – not a confirmation of such a module but a desire to see it.
I do encourage you to have a listen to the whole thing. There are some audio desync issues later on into the interview but the transcript is pretty solid if you’re struggling to listen in.
Balkans map next up from OnReTech

First emerging into the DCS World marketplace with their DCS: Sinai map, OnReTech are now producing their second map aimed at creating the Balkans region and allowing the recreation of the 1991 to 2001 NATO operations over the former Yugoslavia. The map will reportedly include military and civilian airbases in Italy, Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Kosovo. Aviano Air Base in Italy and Venice’s Marco Polo Airport are included.
Thanks to a FAQ released alongside the announcement we also know that the map will be 1200×1000 km in size, the early access price will be $39.99 USD (full price at full release will be $49.99 USD), and the map will have a detailed area shown in green below with a wider area done with lower details. The developer plans to release the map closer to the end of 2026.
