A few more details are coming out about Korea IL-2 series as the title moves towards release in 2026. The latest developer diary, number 56, is focused on people who will walk around in the villages and cities of the new sim. Let’s have a look.
Inhabiting the world

The latest developer diary is focused on people. The diary mentions that there are 28 characters that range from townspeople to soldiers, sailors, and technicians but it is the former, the townspeople, who make up the bulk of the images in this latest update.
The people are reportedly programmed to have behaviours that include walking, working, and talking with other nearby people. If an explosion occurs nearby, they will also reportedly dive and scatter. This all at a reportedly minimal cost to performance.
I had mentioned previously that I wanted to see what the mud moving experience was like and it looks like there will be some key differences in how “lived in” the simulated world will be.
No word on just how interactive these people will be with the various munitions in the series.
I know some people have brought up concerns over civilian casualties. The series has, to date, maintained a Teen rating under the ESRB system or under the PEGI 12 or PEGI 16 under that rating. A shift to a more mature rating, should it happen, could affect sales in some countries.

Meanwhile, the rest of the Sturmovik series is going on sale with up to 80% discounts on the webstore and on Steam.
