Released with a fancy trailer from Aviation Lads, TFDi has announced that their upgraded MD-11 is coming to Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024 on January 12th. The update promises a long list of updates for both sims with a small upgrade fee for current owners. Let’s have a look!

TFDi are about to release their drastically updated MD-11 for Microsoft Flight Simulator. The 2020 and 2024 release is scheduled for January 12th and it comes packaged with hundreds of updates, an exterior model redone from scratch, revised cockpit geometry, new texture and materials work, as well as enhanced sounds.

The developers report that there are some 2024 exclusive features like working overhead bins, trays and lavatories, exterior clickspots for GPU and doors, working windshield wipers, 3D default passengers, and career mode (if purchased in the Marketplace). All of the other changes are landing on both platforms.

Existing owners can upgrade to the 2024 version for $5 (the cost of a cup of coffee!). The base price is also going up by $5 to $74.99 USD. With TFDi, you also choose Passenger or Freighter and then if you want the other version its a $10 upgrade to add the other version on.

Finally, its $5 for the extended sim system which brings a lengthy list of failures to the aircraft.

  1. Ahh yes, the Mega Death-11 as the maintenance crews referred to it or the Scud as it was affectionately monikered by its pilots is easily one of the top ten worst airframe’s ever devised. I mean the number of incidents, accidents, and hull losses are staggering for the number built.

    That aside, does the update finally simulate porpoising? 😬

      It really doesn’t have a great reputation. I’m surprised so many have flown for so long with the freight companies. At least until the recent tragedy.
