Initially set out by the company as a Kickstarter project, enthusiasm for yoke controls was more than enough to convince the company that a market for such a product was out there and VIRPIL is now offering the same series for general pre-order. Let’s have a look.

Base yoke system and choose your own yoke

Like most VIRPIL systems available, the hardware developer offers a base and then lets you choose the yoke that you want to best represent your type of flying.

The Vector Flight Yoke Base is an axis centering system controlled by springs which can be swapped out to adjust the tension setting. Fine tuning can be done with additional adjustments through the clutch dampers. The axis limiter can be swapped out with traditional 180 degree roll and 90 degree roll like in a business jet.

The yoke handles are on offer with the B-JET Yoke Handle representing a Boeing style control, there’s the Constellation VEGA Yoke Handle which is more space-sim oriented (they have bigger ships in some games now so this might suite some types of flying there), and there’s the P-JET Yoke Handle which looks inspired by the handlebar-style employed primarily by Embraer aircraft.

There’s more customization with the swappable Control Panel Faceplates. Here there are three different plates with the Vector Engine MCP, Vector Gear MCP and Vector Lighting MCP letting you choose which controls you most want to have on your yoke. The system is symmetrical so you can swap them in on either side.

The Vector Flight Yoke Base is €297.46/US$339.96, the yoke handles are €144.46/US$169.96 (each), and the control panels are €42.46/US$50.96 at current pricing. There’s a promotional sale on with up to 15% off discounts.

If you do pre-order, there will be a wait with Kickstarter backers first in line and pre-order customers coming after that. The ETA is currently listed as Q3 2026, however, estimates like those have tended to slip in the past so the wait may be longer.

  1. I backed the Kickstarter. The yoke is about a year behind the original estimate, but that’s partially due to them making changes based on backer feedback. It’s pretty much ready for production so I don’t expect it to be delayed much more.

I’m looking forward to receiving mine. I know Virpil’s stuff is rock solid, and it’s going to be replacing an old CH Products yoke.

Still, as solid as I expect it to be, it’s a lot to ask for a basic yet high quality yoke. I think most other products have it beat in the looks department. Also force feedback has started to make a comeback since they first announced the Kickstarter. I personally don’t find FFB necessary, but I know a lot of people think otherwise.

I’ll let you know when mine comes and what I think of it.

Knowing the hardware quality that we see from VIRPIL and headwinds in the hardware market these days, I’m not surprised that the prices are really starting to get up there. If they are able to deliver a solid unit that can last a very long time, it might be worthwhile. Fingers crossed!

Would absolutely love to know how it goes when you get yours!
