Third party DCS World developer Aerges has always had the intention of developing Mirage F1 in four distinct variants from the most basic CE version through the more sophisticated EE and BE two-seat variant before ultimately delivering the F1M. The modernized version of the jet brings an MFD and some additional features to the aircraft. Today we got a tease of what is hopefully coming soon.

Cinematic teaser?

Aerges doesn’t tend to update all that often except when there’s something distinct to show off. That’s why a teaser like this has my interest piqued. A video, advertised through their Facebook page and created by collaborator Ismael Jorda, shows off multiple variants of the F1 in a series of quick beats before lingering briefly on the cockpit of the F1M… fully textured and in the sim.

We don’t know much else about what the company intends to do at the moment, however, we know that the F1M and a more sophisticated effort on the type’s radar are underway and have been for quite some time. This happening in parallel with development efforts on their DCS: F-104 Starfighter which is the next module they intend to release.

With Aerges showing this off now and taking into account past practices, I expect that we’ll start to see more of the F1M in the coming weeks or months.

  1. Hello, I bought a Mirage F1 before and I’m learning to fly it, currently I’m practicing landing and honestly it’s not easy. This is because I’m switching from a Hornet, where a computer works for the pilot. The analog cockpit forced me to study more about air navigation and the basics of flight physics, I really enjoy this module. I’m looking forward to the F1M variant.

It’s very different from flying a Hornet, that’s for sure!

  2. I don’t own this plane, never had a thing for Mirage fighters. But it seems to be very well put together and you definitely get your money’s worth. I have it coming around on the free trial in about two-weeks. Looking forward to trying it again.

Worth the free trial at least. Aerges has done good work here and they continue to evolve it.

  3. I enjoyed learning the F-1, what I enjoyed about it was it steam gauges and limited computers (its got a HUD though) – that was before the F-4 came along and since then I have stopped flying it – but its a great module.

The upgraded systems – been in the works for while and I know people have been looking forward to it but its meh for me, I like the older jets so whilst I will check it out, its not really what interested me with the F-1

The great thing about the collection here is that one module can cover a bunch of time periods. Works well for those Cold War servers running different time periods. You can keep up with the opposition to some degree by flying the fancier jet if you want to though I agree I think I’ve put more time into the F1 CE with its most basic of systems.

    2. Same. I haven’t touched it since the F-4 came out. I only had the F-1 for something to cover that earlier time period. The F-4 just does everything I want it to do and better.

Curious how deep they will do the M model. Its mostly a sensor, avionics, and critically weapons upgrade. Enough that the French kept the jet into the 2000s.

As far as I know, it’ll feature all of the updates that the Spanish F1M program had. Not quite as sophisticated as the F1CT in French service but with some new capabilities (CCIP will be great to have).

I don’t think it gets any additional weapons. But I could be wrong!

  5. What do you think about a Mirage III by Aerges once the F1M and the F-104 Star Fighter are released? I’d say that there is a strong case for it.

    1. The Mirage F1 has inherited some of the Mirage III’s systems (albeit modernized)
    2. In recent years there has been a hightened demand for Cold War jets
    3. High level of technological feasibility for Aerges to do (well documented)
    4. The Mirage III would make recreations of various Cold War scenarios posssible
    5. It would also make recreations of the Falklands War far more accurate

I know this is a little off topic, so I apologise for this, but I just want to get this out there. I will admit I used AI to come up with these points, but I made sure these points were valid and truthful using my prior knowledge of the Mirage III and Mirage F1.

    1. No argument from me on the Mirage III. Popular jet, fought a good number of actual battles, would be a good competitor with the MiG-17 and others.

The AI makes good points there but careful with it as I find it’s even worse than usual with aviation questions – I’ve tried a few queries and been unimpressed with its accuracy.

      1. Thanks for warning me about AI and aviation questions.

  6. Would have preferred a Mirage III. And Mig 17. Then we can do 1960s-80s Middle East.

    1. Well, hopefully for us the MiG-17F by Red Star simulations will be available by the end of 2026. Fingers crossed!

As for the IAI Kfir, I think we will be getting it by the end of 2027. So by 2028, we will be able to recreate a somewhat proper Yo Kippur War air campaign.

    2. I quite enjoy the F1’s fit into the Cold War mix, but the Mirage III would be very cool!
