It’s been a long road for IL-2 Sturmovik: Cliffs of Dover and Team Fusion Simulations aspirations to make the Cliffs of Dover iteration of the IL-2 series fully compatible with VR headsets. Progress does appear to be coming along as the latest video showcases. Let’s have a look!

In-game footage from the VR beta

Mysticpuma has posted a two and a half minute long video showcasing recent work that Team Fusion Simulations has done on their VR beta.

The description says that the video says that it includes the Truesky “Medium Clouds” setting, 5:20 pm time, cloud coverage is 52%, haze up to 2000 meters, cloud base at 2000 meters, and cloud height up to 5000 meters.

The missions showcased are also using new missions that include reworked AI routines. The aircraft are reportedly more aggressive and are less prone to entering the “barrel roll of doom” (an issue that I’ve had with the series going back to the Forgotten Battles days). You can read more commentary and even test the missions for yourself (without the VR beta) here.

More on this as we learn more from Team Fusion!

One response to “New video showcases latest Cliffs of Dover VR beta test efforts”

  1. CloD still holds its own but for me the barrel rolls of doom were a killer. This must be the greatest what if story of all sims. So much potential just to be dumped broken onto the market. Hats off to the guys trying to fix it. A modern Battle of Britain sim would be the ultimate.
