The arrival of tactical codes for the IL-2 Sturmovik: Great Battles Series arrived relatively late in the sim’s development though it has become standard across the entire line-up now. For Korea, it looks like 1C Game Studios intends to up the ante a bit and add some new features to the mix including some long requested options.

Codes, markings, and victories

IL-2 Korea reportedly features a bunch of new marking systems as part of the new sim. A more advanced numbering system allows up to eight characters and new styles including red numbers with outlines (for the MiG-15 for example) are now possible.

Dynamic victory marks can also be applied with the example of a multiplayer game where a lengthy kill streak can be applied to the aircraft.

Squadron specific emblems can also be applied now and historical marks have been created to be applied. For the “red” side the practice wasn’t often used during the war, however, the option for squadron emblems or personal images are a possibility. That last point sounds like more of a concession for multiplayer.

We haven’t even gotten to liveries yet where it sounds like 1CGS will once again be offering a mix of historical options.

Finally, they reiterate that the pre-order program includes schemes from the USAF Skyblazers and Thunderbirds as well as the Red Five demonstration team. These can be applied to the F-86, F-84 and MiG-15bis respectively.

Interesting stuff. Read the full report here!
