If we follow the same pathways that the iniBuilds A300, A350, and A340 established in the past, its likely that we’re not going to be waiting much longer for iniBuilds TriStar Airliner to come out. The company has just released a 48-minute showcase of the aircraft’s design, systems, and in-sim features. Let’s have a look!

Prepare yourself for the TriStar

Lockheed’s last entry into the airliner market before the company turned to focus on their defense projects instead, the L-1011 is an interesting airliner and not one that gets the same kind of attention as more modern types does. But here comes iniBuilds with what looks to be quite a faithful rendition of the three engined aircraft.

The 48-minute and change video goes in-depth showing off the modeling inside and out, the sound work, and then over to the systems as the demo completes a preview flight with the airplane.

There’s a lot of iniBuilds standard features here so the things that standout are the unique items. The EFB is a flip pad (similar to some other classic airliner projects), the aircraft has a fully modeled INS (inertial navigation system) with an optional map display that can get out of sync if the system isn’t setup properly, and the aircraft has fully functional DLC (dynamic lift control) with spoilers that can be used to fine tune the descent rate of the aircraft.

To date, the only high fidelity aircraft I’ve flown with an adjustable DLC is the F-14. An interesting system to have on an airliner. I get the impression from reading and from the video that Lockheed overengineered the aircraft adding a lot of systems that were extra redundant or ahead of their time. It can do an autoland for example which was a first in the late 1960s. Fascinating.

Watch for this aircraft to come out sooner than later!
