The big news from iniBuilds isn’t any one project but several. The developer has just wrapped up some significant updates for previously released projects while providing another large update on their upcoming TriStar airliner. Also wrapped up in the update is Synaptic Studios and their A220. Let’s check it all out.
TriStar gets ready to release

Many of you were guessing that the TriStar Airliner project was getting set to release, given the advanced state of what we’d been seeing in recent days, and indeed that is the case. The triple-engined airliner is set to launch later in March as confirmed by iniBuilds in their update. The aircraft will, once again, launch first in the Marketplace, and then on their own iniBuilds store later.
We’ve already seen some updates but this latest one covers even more about the TriStar. A virtual flight engineer will assist with operation where the pilot can trigger flows or operations from the PFB (paper flight bag) and the engineer will manage the appropriate systems.
The nav system will have radar nav, INS, GPS, and INS + GPS modes. That will let you tailor your operational style to meet your preference. A moving map display can help you plot your course if you want to have it.
Sound work is confirmed to have been recorded from a real L1011 thanks to Echo 19. Listen to those sounds!
iniBuilds update also goes into detail about the liveries, cabin interior (and optional lounge), texturing, and special POD variant. The POD variant is interesting because it enabled airlines to transport an extra Rolls-Royce RB211 engine on the wing.
A220 Synaptic update

Another long awaited project, Synaptic Simulations A220 remains a work in progress but the progress does sound good!
They report that the flight management system has been rewritten, the fly-by-wire system has been reworked, it has a custom engine model, lateral and vertical guidance for autopilot, autoland, full feature electrical, bleed air, hydraulics and radio systems simulation. The update reports that the crew alerting system has been created to mirror the logic from the real aircraft.
The past couple of years have been a unique blend of exciting breakthroughs and of countless sleepless nights spent following rabbit holes and chasing wild geese. Our codebase has now grown to over several hundred thousand lines of Rust and TypeScript code, representing 985 modeled components, 1026 electrical connections, 427 data buses such as ARINC 429, AFDX, analog, and discrete. We’re working steadily to ensure a capable aircraft on release day, and hope you share in our excitement as we approach the big day!
We don’t know when that day is and indeed we have blown past the Q4 2025 estimate that Synaptic last gave out. Like many developers working on complex aircraft simulations, the path is not always straight forward and sometimes things have to be reworked before they reach the proper state.
A380 is the next project
We’ve heard that iniBuilds had intentions to build the A380 as a future project for quite some time. It looked like it would be the logical follow-on to the A350 (there are some shared elements between the two airliners), however, they cleared went with the TriStar in between.
iniBuilds says that they are taking everything they learned with prior projects and are moving into development of the A380. Work is already underway including systems development and aircraft research. Real world reference trips to check out a few real A380s has been part of the effort. A lot goes into these virtual recreations!
Look forward to seeing more on that.
Recent updates for the A300, A340 and A350 and sale underway
Three of iniBuilds previously released aircraft have all seen updates recently. A350 moves to V1.2.4, A340 to V1.0.10, and the A300-600R(F) is now 1.0.7. Some of those updates have been smaller while others have been significant (the A300 runs beautifully for the first time in 2024!) It is good to see iniBuilds continuing to work on their past releases as it provides confidence that future products will continue to operate for years into the future.
iniBuilds are having a FSWeekend sale with 25% off on the A340 Airliner, A350 Airliner and A300-600R(F) Airliner. Check out the sale here!
