A new team within Microsoft Flight Simulation developer AzurPoly has announced that they are now putting together a Grumman Tracker S-2FT project. Let’s see what they announced!

Tracker in development

AzurPoly have announced that they are working with SOS Tracker 07, a non-profit organization, that have saved a S-2FT from being scrapped and are now preserving the real world example at Aubenas airport in France. This aircraft is likely providing the developer with the necessary real world references to recreate the S-2FT specific variant.

The variant we are developing, the S-2FT, represents a modernized version operated by the French “Sécurité Civile”. Among its most notable upgrades is the replacement of the original engines with turboprop PT6 engines, significantly enhancing performance, reliability, and operational efficiency in demanding low-altitude environments.

The S-2FT saw service as a firefighting aircraft and it seems likely that AzurPoly are targeting the forest fire fighting career mode activities within MSFS 2024 with this new project – though that is a bit of healthy conjecture at this stage.

Right now we have just the two renders of the model so this project is still in its relatively early stages though clearly the model work itself is quite advanced. More to come on this.
