We’ve got some SimWorks Studios updates to catch up on. The developer has been busy releasing update to many of their popular aircraft including the PC-12, Kodiak 100, GA-8 Airvan, and others. We’ll check in on some of these projects with what the developer has been saying as of late. They are also teasing a Got Friends inspired product… fascinating! Let’s check it out!

PC-12 heads to final testing

A significant update to the PC-12 is on its way and the latest developer report, released over the weekend, mentions that final validation is now underway. The big change for the PC-12 is that it will now fully integrate the SWS tablet interface with hot-swappable avionics (like on the GA-8 Airvan). It’s also getting the latest weather radar integration and other more minor updates are expected to help the aircraft keep pace in both MSFS 2020 and 2024.

Kodiak 100 update 2 underway

After releasing the MSFS 2024 variant of the Kodiak 100, SimWorks Studios is still working away on the product with yet another update planned. The update is multifaceted with a significant overhaul of the flight model now using the full CFD fuselage shaping system. SWS say that it brings improvements to handling and that it hand flies better. Custom rudder trim simulation, TKS deicing tweaks, and new medievac version also being added to the mix.

The amphibious version is similarly seeing some updates with its own revised flight model to match the unique shape of that variant. Improved water handling and free castering wheels while on land are also being added.

SWS are targeting late April or early May for these updates. Then the team will be turning their attention back to the Kodiak 900. They are also teasing an expansion pack to the Kodiak 100. Interesting. We’re going to learn more about that soon!

Side project teased

My ears perked right up on this one. The developers say that they have a small side project, inspired by Got Friends, that they are intending to start showing off next week. Got Friends are currently working on finishing up their Taylorcraft BC-12D so maybe its something related or in a similar vein to that?

Look forward to knowing more!
