Joining the 737-600, -700 and -900 in the virtual hangar, the 737-800 from PMDG has finally received the “high detail update” which updates the model and textures with additional details. The 777 series gets a small update today and we have news about what PMDG are planning for the DC-6 in MSFS 2024. Let’s have a look at the news!
The NG fleets updated
The big news is that the 737-800 has finally received the high detail update. PMDG detailed this upgrade process with a flashy trailer back in early April. The company says its an overhaul of the aircraft adding better lighting, textures, ground equipment, access panels and even details within the landing gear bays. The rest of the 737NG fleet had already seen the update and according to PMDG’s Robert S. Randazzo the process for the -800 took a little longer because of the 90 included liveries (on PC anyways) that also needed to be updated to match.
You’ll need to make sure you run the updater with the OC3 software and update the liveries to match as well.
A paintkit is reportedly going to be available later today for livery artists.
For those of you who have purchased through the Marketplace, PMDG say that the update will likely come closer to the end of the month. The 21st, 26th or 27th are best guesses and are reliant on Microsoft’s processes.
777 and DC-6 updates
We also have news on PMDG’s other aircraft series. The 777 series has reportedly seen a small quality of life update that Robert characterizes as tying up some loose ends and improving stability for Xbox users. Here’s what he had to say.
The entire 777 fleet has received a minor update this week, focused primarily on some quality of life improvements and tying up some loose ends from the previous release cycle. This update includes some stability improvements for Xbox users with respect to navigraph data updating, and also addresses some oscillation behaviors in the AFDS after the previous update cycle. There are a few other small fixes included as well.
Meanwhile, we also have news about the DC-6. PMDG have been slow to issue updates for this aircraft for quite some time and fans of the four engine airliner have been waiting to see what the MSFS 2024 upgrade path might look like. We now know what they plan.
The aircraft is being updated to work in 2024 and will use the modular technologies available in 2024 for better efficiency. The tester team is currently working to ensure that the aircraft works well.
The best news is that PMDG is going to offer the upgrade for free saying that there haven’t been any significant additions to the aircraft.
Please note that this is update for DC-6 is intended simply to extend the product’s serviceability by building her using the native MSFS 2024 tools, and does not reflect any effort to change the product or add new features, as that work is not in our development agenda at this time.
