Bush trips are back in Sim Update 6 for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024! There’s a whole bunch of other core technology changes and updates for the popular flight simulator. Let’s have a look!

Updates released

Sim Update 6 is now out for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 and it has the usual range of features and updates added to the mix. Fixes to crashes, soft locks, improved WASM loading, as well as a long list of fixes to aircraft and avionics systems are all part of the mix.

The notes report that AMD’s FSR 4 (for upscaling and frame generation) was tested during the public beta but has been removed due to incompatibility when rendering to multiple windows. FSR 3 is now the most recent version available and is the same as what was in SU5.1. DLSS 4.5 support has been added.

The Activities menu in MSFS 2024 now sports the return of Bush Trips. These were fun guided journeys through unique parts of the world in MSFS 2020 and they’ve been a bit of a missing piece of the puzzle for MSFS 2024. Now, finally, they are back in and available to go and fly.

Users also seem to be reporting that performance and lighting seem to be feeling sharper and generally better than before as well. My own experience supports that with just two flights under SU6 so far feeling slightly snappier and better performing than I’ve seen under SU5. That could be a placebo effect but if it is indeed running better… great!
