Developers at Aerosoft have published their Airbus A330 NEO simulation for Microsoft Flight Simulator. The aircraft release follows an earlier release of the A340-600 Pro developed with ToLiss and an even earlier A330 CEO release. Here’s what we know about the new aircraft.

New release with Pro version in the future

Aerosoft have successfully released several scenery packs for Microsoft flight simulator over the last few years, however, their aircraft releases have been somewhat more troubled. The Twin Otter project was shelved and then re-released as a default aircraft in MSFS 2024. The CRJ endured a tortured development process before becoming somewhat well regarded in a V2 update. The A330ceo release was unfortunately almost entirely panned by the community with serious bugs and systems depth issues. A330neo is next up to bat.

Aerosoft are touting custom fly-by-wire modeling, NEO specific flare law, independent MCDUs (with TOC, TOD, secondary flight plan, climb, cruise and descent path calculation), Navigraph and SimBrief support, custom EFB, realistic ADIRU alignment times, detailed electrical, hydraulic, fuel and various other features.

The list sounds significant, however, it does appear based on a couple of early reports from Simblitz and XP72 that the aircraft does have some issues ranging from system quirks to 3D model issues.

Now, there is a Pro version planned for the future. Aerosoft appear to be leveraging their partnership with X-Plane Airbus aircraft developer ToLiss once again with a A330-900neo Pro which will have ToLiss system modeling. This according to a post by an Aerosoft PR person on Reddit.

Aerosoft and ToLiss are collaborating again! Following the great success of our release of the A340-600 Pro, we will be bringing a version of the A330 NEO Pro to MSFS 2024. We are both thrilled for the next journey, and we are sure that this will be one of the most anticipated airliners in the Microsoft Flight Simulator world — it’s going to be awesome! The journey has just begun!

We’ll have to see if Aerosoft can, in the fullness of time, rebuild their reputation though it does seem like the A330neo has enough issues that you may want to wait a bit of time and see how it develops.
