Microsoft Flight Simulator developer SimWorks Studios has provided an update over the weekend focused on their Kodiak aircraft series. The latest news includes some work on the Kodiak 100, specifically the 2024 version, with some added detail to turbine behavior. We also have a small Kodiak 900 update too. Let’s check them both out.

Kodiak updates

SWS have provided us with a few nuggets of information around both Kodiak 100 and 900 projects for Microsoft Flight Simulator.

The Kodiak 100 was updated to MSFS 2024 standard earlier in the year and both it and the 2020 version have seen several updates. Work going forward is focused on the 2024 version with the latest word that their turboprop (turbine) simulation is going to be improved on the Kodiak 100. It borrows work already done as part of the PC-12 2024 update. In short, behavior of the engine should be more accurate and more representative of real world numbers than before.

The Kodiak 100 has also passed PS5 testing regimes and should be appearing shortly on that platform. Great news!

Meanwhile, we’ve also heard some news about the Kodiak 900. They report that they weren’t fully happy with the visuals on the project so they have done some tweaking to further improve things. Better texture and model quality as well as a redone engine bay and interior details has been the outcome. More previews are expected soon and the Kodiak 900 is reportedly still on track for a Q4 release.
