The latest update for IL-2 Series is 1.005 and it comes just a couple of weeks after 1.004 arrived. The previous update sported quite a length list of updates with AI improvements being the headlining feature. The latest update is smaller but it has more AI improvements so let’s check that out.

Updates to the sim

Most of the changes are focused on AI in this new update. There’s a new option for AI wingmen behaviour. The default mode has wingman follow the mission scenario until they receive a command from the player. The alternate selection has your wingmates stay in formation until ordered to do something.

There are other changes too. They report improved target prioritization, improved maneuvering and aiming during head-on attacks, even more evasive maneuvers when under attack, as well as fixed control surface jitter.

Other updates include a new MiG-15 training mission, a new pontoon boat, corrected illumination for some lights and phosphorescent cockpit labels, fixes to the fuel system helper with some aircraft, and a few other changes.
