It’s been a pretty busy week for DCS World news and I’ve got a round-up to track and tackle most of it. That includes updates on the DCS: G.91, new DCS: Tornado cockpit image, DCS: La-7 updates, a major DCS World update, and more!

The latest on the G.91

The IndiaFoxtEcho DCS: G.91 project is progressing along with some aspects of its release becoming clearer thanks to the latest status update. Early access will reportedly contain both the G.91R/1B and G.91R/3 while a Portuguese specific G.91R/4 will come in a later release. A PAN aerobatic variant will also get a dedicated variant in a future release.

The G.91R/1B was primarily used by the Italian air force as a light attack aircraft and featured four Browning M3 .50cal machine guns for primary armament plus stores on the wings to a maximum of 500 kg (1,100 lb). The G.91R/3 was a West German Luftwaffe variant with two 30mm DEFA cannons in place of the Brownings and a slight payload increase to a maximum of 680 kg (1,500 lb). The G.91R/4 is more similar to the Luftwaffe R/3 variant but with the Browning machine guns instead of the 30mm DEFA. IFT plans to bring these all to DCS.

The developer is busy working on a variety of systems with the status update going in-depth on the PHI Navigation System, AD.722 Automatic Direction Finder, damage model, flight model, and engine model all seeing refinements. One item of particular note is what they are calling “dynamic pilot injury effects” with the pilot having the possibility of being wounded or dazed from being hit by enemy fire. Check out the effects in this WIP video.

Speed & Angels F-14B(U) update

Reflected Simulations in-depth training campaign for the DCS: F-14B has been updated with a new release that features the more digital F-14B(U). There are still 10-missions, 3000 recorded voice overs, fully automated RIO, custom squadron paint schemes, plus detailed kneeboards and briefing documents.

Current owners of the F-14B focused Speed & Angels campaign can pick up the F-14B(U) version for 50% off the regular price. There was, however, an issue with the discounts being applied early on and it has only just been resolved.

ED is fixing the discount. If you bought it at full price despite owning the B version you’ll get the difference back in ED miles. But you need to take it up with customer support, I have no control over their store.

If you’re buying now, it should work correctly.

You’ll need a bunch of modules and terrains to make this work so make sure you meet the requirements of having DCS: F-14B(U) Tomcat, DCS: Supercarrier, DCS: Nevada Test and Training Range Map, free DCS: Marianas Map, and free DCS: Caucasus Map.

Several new ground units have been added in the most recent DCS World update featuring the work of developer “Currenthill”:

First Tornado cockpit image

AviaStorm, DCS World third party developers, posted this work in progress image of the DCS: Tornado cockpit writing the following as context:

Another photo from the cockpit, testing continues as we forge ahead with the with the FIN-RPMD.

Progress obviously continues on this project and bit by bit it appears to be coming together.

Octopus G DCS: La-7 video update

Octopus G has added a 3D pilot model to the DCS: La-7 together with several other changes to the WWII aircraft module that includes some adjustments to the radio system.

One response to “DCS World round-up: G.91 update, Halloween sale, Speed & Angels, Tornado cockpit, more!”

  1. A good patch but like many others I was looking forward to some map updates and maybe a Balkans surprise. And some of those CH assets are really well done.
