We’ve got out first new look at the Heatblur Rafale for DCS World since the initial announcement back at the start of the year. The video gives us a quick look at the jet’s HUD and weapons in action which is a nice tease of what is yet to come. The third party DCS World developer is also hosting a sale right now with up to 40% off on some DCS World modules. Let’s have a look!
Rafale HUD teaser, Typhoon animation

DCS: Rafale came as a bit of a surprise announcement back at the start of the year. Since then, things have been fairly quiet on the development front with most of Heatblur’s PR attention focused on the DCS: F-14B(U) that launched back in the summer. Now we’re learning new details about the nascent module.
We’ve hit several key milestones over the past months, including much of the initial weapons capability. One of these has been short range air to air weapons systems, which you can see below.
Maneuverability, combined with powerful missiles in the form of the MICA and a powerful HUD + HMD combine to make the Rafale a beast in short range air to air engagements. As part of this milestone, we’ve also introduced a new system for simulating touch screen displays and associated functionality, as the Rafale relies heavily on a touch screen based man-machine interface system, a first for DCS World. Stay tuned for more as the Rafale takes shape!
The module shown in this video is a work in progress and does not represent the final release.
Its great to see that the jet is already progressing well with weapons functioning and working HUD indicators together with what is at the very least a preliminary flight model.
The video is available from the Heatblur Facebook page.
Cobra847 from Heatblur indicated via the company’s Discord that the Eurofighter is still intended to launch first and that the teaser video isn’t an indication of launch order or any other changes.
Typhoon fans also have something interesting to look at. A small animated GIF has been added to the Heatblur Discord which shows the jet performing various rolls and turns. Cobra indicates that the flight model has been completed which is a significant milestone for the project. It’s not much but its a little something to look at.
