It’s E3 2018 this weekend with dozens of game announcements already occurring and plenty of entertainment news leaking out onto the internet. We’ve got a small revelation for the IL-2 single player community that you might be interested in.
New premium Scripted Campaign
BlackSix has been the author of three Scripted Campaigns for the IL-2: Great Battles Series so far. His mission design has been excellent and it has been paired with outstanding research, writing, and with a dash of the dramatic in many of the missions he’s created.
I’ve previously reviewed Ten Days of Autumn and Blazing Steppe and I will write a review on the new Sea Dragons campaign that shipped with Battle of Kuban as I soon as I finish flying all of the missions.
Now we’ve heard that BlackSix has a fourth campaign under development:
OMG, did I say FOUR?
Ok, there is something new in the development.
He then followed up with:
Stalingrad, autumn. But I’ve no ETA at present…
So there you have it. The next campaign will be based on the Autumn version of the Stalingrad map.
What might it be?
The next Scripted Campaign will likely be a separate purchase just like Blazing Steppe and Ten Days of Autumn and will probably be sold for $9.99 on the IL-2 store. I’d bet that the campaign will be approximately 15 missions long as well and feature the same kind of details and features that the previous releases in the series have offered.
As for the subject matter? That’s a great question and one that is open to speculation.
Will it be another Bf109 campaign? Unlikely although surely it would be popular. Blazing Steppe filled in the role of the Allied side Yak-1 fighter pilot and Sea Dragon’s is an IL-2 campaign. BlackSix has been often asked to build more attacker campaigns so this could be a bomber pilot campaign featuring the He111H-6 or maybe the Ju87 Stuka dive-bomber.
I’ll have more details for you as they come up!
One that should normally be out any day now is Fire and Ice, which has been submitted quite a while ago to 1C, but they seem to be as slow as DCS to release campaigns submitted by 3rd parties (I’m hinting at the M-2000C’s Red Flag campaign).

I don’t think I know anything about that one. Will have to follow up.

It’s a Bf-110 campaign by Netscape, inspired by historical events. I could test it as translator and it’s quite good and varied, with a story that unfolds in parallel of the missions and gives even more depth to the campaign.
There are a few mentions here and there in the forums so I’m pretty sure I don’t divulge anything secret (for ex. https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/34619-here-are-top-6-scripted-campaigns/?do=findComment&comment=588424).
Now he’s busy making a new version of his famous Sirens of Death (https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/37079-3rd-party-content-donations-vs-selling/?do=findComment&comment=625733).
So we should really be spoiled the next few months 🙂
