We now have our third DCS: JF-17 academic video, this one detailing the radar and SD-10 air-to-air missile as well as the jet’s IFF system which – from appearances, is the most sophisticated in DCS World (that I know of).
Air-to-air and a bit more
We’re really starting to get to know the JF-17’s three panel glass cockpit systems with this video as we look at both the radar and the IFF systems. The radar system already has STT, RWS, and TWS modes. In-fact, in this video, Deka Ironwork’s shows off the jet’s ability to engage two targets at once while in TWS mode. Impressive!
The video also goes over the radar ACM modes which includes very familiar vertical scan, boresight, and wide area acquisition modes similar to the Hornet, Mirage, and others.
Countermeasures are also briefly covered in the video so you can have a look at that. One feature that Deka Ironworks is bringing to the table that I wish others would implement is a special settings section that deals with countermeasure programming so you don’t have to reprogram every time.
This video should help cement the level of completeness of the JF-17 when it comes to deep and in-depth systems modeling for this DCS World level jet.
Other elements remain as placeholders (textures, perhaps even sounds) but I’m looking forward towards the time when Deka is ready to show off their updated work.
