The latest announcement coming just a few minutes ago from Jason Williams is that 1CGS is preparing to release patch 4.006 for the IL-2: Great Battles Series and that it will be coming in the next 24-48 hours. So, get ready for 4.006, the new deferred shading system, and of course the release of the Yak-9 and Yak-9T for IL-2: Great Battles.
Jam packed
According to Jason Williams, this patch is ‘jam packed’ with good stuff but that also means some pretty big overhauls and so anything you feel needs to be backed up should probably be backed up now.
Update 4.006 will probably be released on Tuesday May 19th (tomorrow) if all goes well. If not, we’ll try again on Wednesday. So back up anything you want backed up before you attempt the update. This will be a big one, maybe backup your entire IL-2 install folder just in case. Update servers will likely be jammed for a while so please have a bit of patience with us. This update is JAM PACKED with good stuff. We think you’ll like it a lot.
Jason Williams
We’ll have the full list of patch notes on release to pick over so until then it’s just a wait and see if things are good to go for tomorrow or if the team will need to wait until Wednesday.
This year has already been packed with some consequential updates and 4.006 seems to be no different. Looking forward to seeing the results.
Jason also reports that the pre-order for the Yak-9 will last a few more days. I also have a Yak-9 and Yak-9T giveaway set to go out on Friday. I had thought we had another week ahead of us on the patch but it turns out… no. Sorry for the wait there!
Check out these new screenshots to tied you over until tomorrow!

Still torn between the Yak-9 models. Slightly better visibility in the non-T version, but then it’s just one more good fighter. But with the T it’s a good fighter, but with an “ostis 37 millemeht, mon ami”.
So maybe that seals the deal.
