Three new videos from Eagle Dynamics’ Matt Wagner details updates to the targeting pod, the air-to-ground radar, and the AGM-84E SLAM missile. Let’s have a look!
New features for Hornet
Things are coming together after a quiet period for the DCS: F/A-18C Hornet with each of three new videos detailing the updates.
First, we get a look at the very long awaited air-to-ground radar system in the Hornet. This is more than just a Hornet feature as it is part of the overhaul that Eagle Dynamics has been working years on that has slowly been plugged into other aircraft and will benefit even more aircraft, such as the DCS: F-16C, in the future.
AGM-84E SLAM plus a datalink pod brings a new capability to the Hornet with a TV guided standoff missile. It should be interesting to use!
Finally, the Litening II targeting pod is getting some functionality updates. It includes more realistic air-to-ground tracking modes and FLIR tracking of air to air targets. That should be interesting!
I like the A2G radar, I might even learn to use that. I’m enjoying the F-18 and the carrier and I’m happy to see any improvements to either.
