Jim “Gambit21” McDavid has been working hard since the release of his last campaign, Havoc Over The Kuban, on a new campaign for the IL-2: Great Battles Series and today 1CGS formally announced pre-orders available for the campaign. There’s an announcement trailer and details of the campaign coming right up!
Serving up some thunderbolts with the Hell Hawks
The campaign is inspired by the story of the 365th Fighter Group (388th Fighter Squadron) over Europe in the Autumn and Winter of 1944-45. This 9th Air Force group flew low level tactical missions in their P-47’s in all manners of rough weather to support the Allied armies as they advanced towards Germany. This is the setting behind Gambit21’s new campaign.
I once again partnered with Jim and with Jason and the 1CGS team to put together a campaign trailer for Hell Hawks Over the Bulge. It was a fun, albeit, challenging project as the campaign covers a lot of ground both literally and metaphorically and so capturing that together with some sort of representation of the over 150 voice overs recorded with the campaign was a challenge. Here’s the trailer for your viewing enjoyment!
Campaign skins and pre-order available now
The pre-order for the campaign is available now at $9.99 USD and the campaign itself will be coming out with patch 4.009. We don’t know when that will be but I would make a guess that it will be within a couple of weeks from now. Stay tuned for more on that.
Meanwhile, you can already enjoy parts of the campaign’s content by downloading the accompanying skin package which you can use on all of your P-47D-28 flights. These authentically based 365th liveries are available to download from HERE and HERE.
Pre-ordered it yesterday, and great video Shamrock.
Novice.

I’m not much into this Jug thing, but that campaign should cure the problem!
Love the trailer! Not sure who could say ‘no’ after watching it 🙂

Where can I find information and or confirmation of John W Motzenbecker, squadron commander of the 365 Fighter Group, 387 Fighter Squadron, 9th USAAF and his integral part during the early initiation of ‘The Battle Of The Bulge’
