DCS: Syria is out and my initial review of the map was fun to put together, however, the new map is still definitely lacking in content to enjoy it with. A few missions from Eagle Dynamics and third parties is underway or already in but if you’re looking for more I have a recommendation.
Syria Scenario Pack by Kaba

Mission creator Kaba has put together a pack of missions for the DCS: Syria map that might satisfy you if you’re looking for missions. The pack comes with 4 missions that are designed to be medium length that get you into the action fairly quickly and with great replayability. Multiple aircraft are also available for each scenario. For example, one of the missions involves an Israeli airstrike across the Syrian border and allows you to choose between the F-15C and F-16C. A similar mission from the Syrian perspective puts you in the seat of the MiG-21bis and MiG-29A.

I flew a couple of the missions last night and had a lot of fun. The F-16C was armed with only AIM-9’s which quickly altered how I approached the scenario. I ended up having a lot of fun dogfighting in the jet and getting some good BFM training in at the same time. Great!

The same was true with the MiG-29A which I haven’t flown very much recently but had a great time taking to the skies over the new map. Next time out I’ll take the MiG-21bis and see if I can do any good with the earlier jet.
