Heatblur detail priority issues with DCS: F-14

The developers at Heatblur are well on their way to releasing some big updates for the DCS: F-14 and have prepared a variety of updates detailing the future of their module. Before they release information on new content, they have elected to talk priority updates that the team is working on for the currently released content. Let’s have a look!

Fixes to Jester, AIM-54, and more

In a post on the DCS World forums, Cobra847, a developer from Heatblur, has offeres up what he calls a “non-exhaustive” list of fixes and tweaks that are being made to the currently released product. Here’s the list that was presented:

  • Aim-54 Phoenix API changes and guidance behaviorThis is a big one; and requires more support from ED to fully solve. Bear with us a while longer as we continue the conversation with Eagle on making sure this gets done appropriately.
  • Jester getting stuck in TWS-A
  • Jester unable to return to RWS
  • Jester getting stuck in RWS after TWS-Auto
  • General TWS-Auto issues (desync, track loss, etc., where actual bugs exist)
  • Adding Radar mode selection options for Jester
  • Jester IFF improvements
  • Jester STT Target selection and prioritization
  • Wind heading/speed calculation issues when dropping bombs under very specific circumstances (investigation in progress!)
  • TCS slave to radar for human RIO
  • Missing Mak-79 racks
  • LAU-138 on outboard station & missing textures on lower station
  • Right Engine not starting after damage and respawn (this one is incredibly difficult to fix – we will continue investigating!)
  • Hook animation changes and damage model (as well as associated physics, hook skip bolter, etc.)
  • Continued damage model refinement (unkillable pilot, more visual changes)
  • Repair not working correctly for certain items (like collapsed gear)
  • Ground and Taxi behaviour issues
  • Hundreds of small(er) issues!

Bug fixes and making sure that the DCS: F-14 works as best as it can are important but we’re also anxious to see Heatblur push towards being content complete and that means finishing some big items. The F-14A is one, the USS Forrestal is another, and so is the high quality AI A-6 Intruder model and the two campaigns for the jet.

Next week, Cobra reports that they will be detailing sweeping changes coming to the F-14A, slated to arrive in October, in a series of updates that starts next week. Stay tuned for that!

hi guys…when is the new 4.5 n 5th gen fighters going to be out….we really waited for so long for this fighters to be out so we can be more aggressive to go online

I think you’ll be waiting a long time to see the latest models show up. AESA radars, stealth technology, jamming technology are all highly classified and so making a detailed simulation on those will take a while. Consider that the F/A-18 and F-16C that we have in DCS World are about 15-years out of date to what they have now.

while all the things going on over at ED are important. FFS Gimme one of the two helos its been YEARS and no offence but the A-10C II should have been pushed back to finish the HIND while it has been longer for the A-10C then the release of the Helos The A-10C is getting some polishing while the Mi-24 is a major step forward.

Also i belive that even thought russian attack pilots selected the P model as the “Best” i am worried that with what i have seen so far about the Mi-24P the front seat WSO is going to be rather board

The A-10C upgrade is a professional contract with the ANG. I’m sure that’s why it jumped the queue.

I don’t know much about the progression of the Mi-24’s variants and what the front seater will do. But I’m curious to find out.

well so far it does not look good for the WSO all indications point towards an early P model so a total of 4 ATGMS and no Coaxial gun so im not sure but they need to include more ATGMS or put on a 2x23mm motorized turret option. Just because russian pilots say the 30mm is the best does not meen it is best for DCS and ED needs to learn that quick. if there is no fun for the WSO then whats the point of multicrew.

¿Where is the TARPS pod for the F-14? It’s mentioned in the product page “follow later during the Early Access period” next to the F-14A, but nothing has been said about the pod again or I haven’t heard about it.

    1. ShamrockOneFive says:

That’s a good question. I had a look around and I found this response from Cobra back in 2019 where he said it would come sometime after the F-14A as its use in DCS would be somewhat limited. https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=4126587&postcount=4
