We’ve known for some time that Ugra Media was going to continue work on DCS: Syria by adding Cyrpus and more of northern Turkey but it appears that they are also intent on adding more details on other sectors of the map too. A post on the DCS World forums has shown that off to good effect with before and after images and a couple of videos too.

Updates coming to the map

Ugra Media developer, ,posted a message to the DCS World forums with new information on what Ugra Media would be doing to spruce up a few areas of the map. Already highly detailed, these improvements just move the bar further along and a few of them appear to be taking advantage of new technologies that ED has been developing.

We are continuing to improve the map. Updated coastlines to support new DCS technologies.  State borders and demarcation zones have been worked out, including under the protection of UN troops.

Two videos have been posted that show off some of the updated areas as well. There are several landmarks including a new soccer stadium, wind farm, and other building details that appear to be new from what I can remember of these areas of the map. The latest updates centre on Beirut and Haifa.

If that wasn’t enough, there are also several before and after images that show off the improvements too.

Check out these images and look out for more details right here on the DCS World forums.

Updated: This article has been updated to fix broken links to Ugra Media’s YouTube videos. It’s unknown why the original videos were taken down and replaced as they appear to be the same videos.

  1. Nice! Can’t wait for all this to gel; new clouds, new ground textures, and maybe a new Mosquito.

    Thanks for the update.

It’s an exciting time! Things are coming together for DCS in 2021 in a way that we haven’t seen since maybe 2018.

  3. Is there a way to get an “Ad-Free” version of the map? I find the recent significant increase of the amount of the “Normandy 1944” billboards quite annoying and immersion breaking – they are literally on every other corner. And since I mostly fly helicopters, it is impossible not to see the overwhelming amount of them – it looks totally out of place, especially in the Middle Eastern cities/villages.
So, can you give a suggestion how to get rid of the ads? If I actually buy the Normandy map – will the Ads disappear? The premise being – I already bought the product, I don’t need to be subjected to any further marketing, right? Or any other way to get rid of the ads? Like paying a reasonable amount to have the ads removed? Thank you for any assistance.

      Hi Phil,

I don’t have a direct line into Ugra media. You’re best off sending a note to them directly as that will get about as much traction as I have with them.

Remarketing is older than the internet so I’m not sure if you’ll see them budge much on that but you can always try.

      1. Hello, thank you for a quick reply. You are probably right, the chance that there is any change is minimal to non-existent. I just feel the need to point it out that such a change to an already purchased product is unacceptable and they should give the users some options – or a refund.
