Combat Flight Sim webinar tomorrow! (Updated)

Tomorrow I’m going to be presenting a webinar with the Flight Simulation Association about combat flight simulation. The webinar is aimed at newcomers to flight sims and those who are thinking about getting into a combat flight sim for the first time. If you want to attend or want to forward the link to someone, here’s what you need to know!

Get to know your combat flight sims

Many readers of Stormbirds.blog will not need any introduction to titles like IL-2 Sturmovik: Great Battles or DCS World. Those are staples on this blog alongside other titles like Microsoft Flight Simulator and X-Plane. For many, however, these combat sims are unknown to them or outside of their comfort range and so my goal tomorrow is to try and help get people started and find the sim for them.

The webinar will take place tomorrow at 1800 UTC (that’s 2pm EDT).

A bit last minute, I know!

If this all sounds a little last minute or if you’re asking yourself “Hey, why didn’t you tell us about this sooner.” Well, there’s a story about that. Originally, DCS YouTuber and real life CFI Spudknocker was scheduled to give the presentation. Unfortunately, he has some real world commitments that have popped up unexpectedly so I was asked last night to step in.

So, if you do come to the stream tomorrow, go easy on me!

    I like Spud – good content.

    I feel like you’re actually a better fit for this stream since you cover a much broader swath of flight sims, both civ and combat. You should be able to give a great perspective to the folks wondering if they should give the combat sims a try.

    I should be able to catch it live, but if not, I’ll watch it recorded for sure.

    Looks like both IL2 and DCS will still be running their Summer Sales. IMHO, would be good to mention that during the stream as it might entice some fence-sitters to give either a go, given the deep discounts.
