Yep, that’s right, 1CGS has provided the community with 300 developer diary updates since the announcement of IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Stalingrad back in December of 2012. The post coincides beautifully with the 20th anniversary of the IL-2 Sturmovik series and it brings with it some nice updates on the C-47 and IAR-80/81. There’s also a tiny bit of information about the new Tank Crew Collector Tank announcement.
C-47 and IAR-80/81 updates

Ugra Media, a third party developer, who have already contributed the U-2VS and have been refurbishing the Rise of Flight aircraft for the Flying Circus series are working away at the C-47 or “Dakota” for those of us familiar with the Commonwealth aircraft naming system. Meanwhile, the IAR-80/81 is being done by Ivan, a third party modeler working with the team to bring us this aircraft.
The latest update on both the C-47 and IAR-80/81 note that we’ve seen updates on both of these projects before but that both have progressed quite a bit since we’ve seen them last. That much is evident by all of the details appearing on both models.
The C-47 cockpit is now very detailed and you can see why an aircraft like this can take some time to model right. Meanwhile the IAR gets plenty of its own details including the damage model and the cockpit nevermind all of the other things that we see on the model. The update makes special note of the work being done to make both of these look great while remaining within the limitations of the simulation engine. I’m sure they will be fantastic when they arrive.

Pre-orders coming soon
Both the IAR-80/81 and the two new Collector Tanks are slated to go up on the store next week according to this update. The C-47 has already been up on the store for some time and the progress on the IAR-80/81 suggests that this project has reached the point where 1CGS feel like they are able to start taking pre-orders.
Also exciting, of course, is the news that we’ll finally get to find out what the Collector Tanks are going to be and which of your guesses have been right. Stay tuned for more!
What Tanks do you want to see, Shamrock? I’m not really up on my tanks save for the ones at the Bulge.
Will buy the IAR 80 and I will most likely get the Li-2 first but seeing the C-47 cockpit means that we are one step closer to getting the Li-2!
My dad get IL-2 FB and PF when they came out so that’s how I got into IL-2 when I was a preschooler.
Good thing we had this on Friday since there was no DD that day: https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/75391-the-life-and-death-of-hmas-sydney-ii-part-4/

They’ve said they are building tanks that fit the scenario. Based on some comments that have come out I’m guessing that we may see a Churchill and a StuG III. Both popular choices that should sell.
And IF they switch to the west as a follow up, they will have some good options to build on.
