New DCS: AH-64D tutorial covers targeting system

A new video from Matt Wagner at Eagle Dynamics covers the TADS (Target Acquisition and Designation Sights) which is the primary sensor for the AH-64D coming soon to DCS. The latest video is a detailed look at how the targeting system is operated. Let’s check it out.

In-depth targeting tutorial

This 12-minute tutorial video focuses in on the gunners station and the TADS system. The TADS gives the AH-64D much of its targeting capability in both day and night. As with previous DCS World modules, the TADS has been modeled at a high level of detail.

Check out the video and brush up on your skills with the AH-64D prior to its release. We’re still hoping to see this aircraft release to DCS World in the next 8 weeks with the Steam Store listing it as a March 31st release and Eagle Dynamics still indicating that they hope to release in late Q1. Stay tuned on that!

I remain on the fence with this one. On one hand it looks like a very cool toy and lots of fun to fly. On the other hand it looks too complex. But to anyone who can handle the A-10CII systems in depth and manage rotors at the same time, this thing has got be a dream machine.

  It does look like the F/A-18 or A-10C of helicopters. Given its sophisticated sensor suite, I kind of expected that to be the case. I’ll be reporting back on how challenging it is to get started with this.
  
  F-15E seems to be making some progress. That one won’t be a walk in the park either 🙂

I remember well the struggle I had to go through when playing Jane’s Longbow more than 25 years ago. But I also remember well the fun I had once I’ve mastered all the Apache systems. 😎
