Your DCS: Mirage F1CE training starts today!

DCS World content creator RedKite is the first out of the gate with some new pre-release Aerges DCS: Mirage F1 content teaching us how to cold start the F1. Want to get a head start on your Mirage F1 training? Check this out!

Cold Start

RedKite’s tutorial video is the first to detail training for this upcoming DCS World module. It hasn’t released to the public just yet but here we have a nice early look at the Cold War era jet. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen the cockpit in detail but it is the longest we’ve spent looking at and going over the details. We also get to hear some of the sounds associated with the start-up sequence and from what I heard… they are great!

Having just recently spent a lot of time with the Mirage 2000C, it’s also good to see that there’s a decent amount of overlap between the procedures in the two aircraft. They aren’t the same but they are alike and dedicated 2000C drivers are going to likely feel very at home here too. This is also a simpler jet so fewer systems need to be managed and there’s no INS to align.

    Kind of a shame, but I just can’t feel the love for this plane. Something about the Mirage cockpits, they just don’t grab me. Nice exterior though.

    But still good to see new stuff coming out. The glacial state of module progress is a bit disheartening.

      That’s alright. No obligation to like every airplane you come across. What the F1 does is broaden out the Cold War era aircraft set… so everyone benefits from having some added variety in the set. It’s going to get really interesting over the next couple of years!

    I have to agree with CanadaOne, the cockpit is a little confusing. But if you compare it to the Mig-21bis, which is from the same era, they look similarly confusing. I may get this one since I have decided I like older aircraft rather than new ones.

      Have you spent any time with the M-2000C? It’s a very similar philosophy at work there. Just a little less advanced in some areas.

      Every aircraft designer seems to have their own logic on how to do things.

    I must say, I always thought the F1 was a fairly boring looking plane until I saw it flying in real life. Something about certain planes makes them look a lot less exciting in pictures than in person. The Dora and F-15 are other examples I can think of that never really “clicked” with me, until I saw them in person and was blown away by how pretty they looked in the flesh.

    I really like the Mirage 2000 and am enjoying Redkite’s excellent pre-release tutorials for the F1. I’m very much looking forward to hopping in the F1 cockpit.

      From what I’ve seen of the same tutorials, it looks like there’s enough family lineage that going into the F1 after the 2000c will be relatively straightforward!
