It’s a little hard to believe but it’s true! On this day in 2016, I wrote the first post on the newly launched Stormbirds blog. What started out as a writing experiment turned into what you see today and I wanted to take a moment to acknowledge the anniversary.
Writing Stormbirds has taken me further than I would have ever guessed. The last few years in particular have been a new golden age of flight sim with more choices, options, and price points available than anything we’ve seen in decades. From the hardware to the software, we’ve taken massive leaps forward in depth and detail the likes that I would never have guessed was possible.
It’s also been a source of strength and something to dive into during these last couple of difficult years. I know many of you have written in that you check in every day to get a look at the news around the community and I’m gratified to hear that and to be of service. Thank you!
Keeping Stormbirds fresh with content and going in general takes time and resources and so I am eternally grateful to my patrons.

If you want to become a patron, check out my Patreon page. I’m also investigating a ‘Buy Me a Coffee’ arrangement for those who prefer an alternate service and method.
As for the future, I am thinking about what that looks like right now. Sites grow and evolve and I’ve gone from covering one and then two flight sims to covering several and expanding my interests accordingly. I’ve had a lot of fun flying both military and civil aviation sims.
For now, however, enjoy the latest content, news, reviews and editorials from around the flight sim world.
