This weeks DCS World Weekend update covers a lot of different ground from a new MK-84 version for the F-16C to a bit of talk about the new weather update and a new ground unit for DCS World that will add to the list of available flak guns.
MK-84 AIR for Viper

DCS: F-16C will soon have a new weapon in its arsenal: the MK-84 AIR. This is a 2,000lb class general purpose bomb fitted with the BSU/50U tail assembly. This is a ballute that provides a high drag option for the bomb giving the F-16 the ability to deploy this weapon in a high speed, low altitude configuration.
The bomb can be selectively deployed in either high drag or low drag depending on the needs of the mission.
Weather updates
Any time Eagle Dynamics talks weather updates for DCS I get a bit excited. Today we’ve learned about both visual updates as well as substantive updates to the system.
Coming soon are additions of new cirrus cloud effects and new moving clouds that will be affected by wind direction and speed. At present, the new cloud presets have a moving animation but do not actually move across the landscape. That will change with this new update.
Visually, Eagle Dynamics are also adding an ice halo effect (some of you might call it a “Sun Dog”) which tends to appear during cold and clear weather conditions.

KS-19 100mm flak gun
First introduced on ships during WWII, the KS-19 100mm towed flak gun was a Soviet air defense gun used in land service after World War II.
The gun was intended to be used in layered defenses with the 23mm and 57mm providing shorter range and altitude options.
