Flying Iron’s Bf109G-6 is now out

News that Flying Iron Simulations was imminently releasing a Bf109G-6 for Microsoft Flight Simulator certainly attracted a lot of attention and I am happy to report that it has now been released and is on sale.

Its here and ready for everyone to fly around in the world of Microsoft Flight Simulator. The Bf109G-6 from Flying Iron includes 10 liveries, Wwise soundscape using four unique engine captures (3 external plus 1 cockpit capture), authentic flight modeling that includes custom coded extensions, modeling of fuel and hydraulic system, detailed modeling of the DB 605A-1 including failures, electrical systems including breakers modeled, custom ground handling, and on the list goes. The aircraft also features their custom pilot tablet letting you set various features.

A manual is also available for download!

The aircraft is available for purchase for $45 AUD which is about $30 USD. You can get more info and buy it on the Flying Iron website or wait for it to appear in the Marketplace.

    I wish FIS would do a vintage GA for MSFS – we have a few but most worthwhile ones are one step from being brilliant and their developers seem to abandon them shortly after release unless some sim update forces them to address issues. FIS on the other hand, apart from having found the recipe of creating high quality representations (judging from their Spitfire and briefly from this [the sounds alone on this are really something!]) are also dedicated to improving their releases.

      That’d be a bit off their usual but I’d be absolutely down for it.

      iniBuilds and Big Radials are probably the place to go for vintage GA right now. I have some more aircraft to check out in both camps soon!

        I was a bit disappointed in iniBuilds’ 108 to be honest, “system” modelling was pretty shallow (although in the case of the undercarriage control mechanism that’s probably for the best) and flight characteristics a bit odd – that plane can glide like nobody’s business even with gear down, the ailerons seem oddly ineffective and it doesn’t quite seem to be trimmed for its cruising speed which is odd for a long distance tourer. Of course I just might be totally mistaken and that’s how that plane is supposed to be (although real world 108 pilot write-ups, the actual manual and a couple of real world videos seem to disagree).

        I’ve not tried out the Big Radial’s Norseman yet. Maybe some time later in the year if I can find time for one more plane… Lately, although not GA either, I’ve been quite enjoying the DC Designs Stearman – having a blast trying (and yes, failing) to replicate of John Mohr’s aerobatic routine from this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RB5nYlKd-Dg

        The Bf108 is on my todo list eventually. I’ll have to check all of those items out.

        Norseman is really fun! It’s not the best airplane in real life but Big Radials gave that life and I always appreciate that.

    So far this one seems the closest to the DCS K4 besides weapons not functioning. You really do need full stick right and some right rudder starting out and don’t be ginger with the throttle or you’ll eat dirt / smack an end of runway tree. And yes, any 109 has high speed elevator issues – it’s not a fighter jet where you can pull 10+ G to recover. She gets heavy stick back and very stubborn past 500 km/h IAS, but to be expected not surprised by.

    Fun but challenging – FI(S) did an awesome job, best so far!

    I’m probably going to wait a bit just because not enough free time (and DCS K4 is always ready).
    I’ve seen a few initial posts about this one elsewhere and they are similarly positive.
    Meanwhile, the 3D modeling in the fuselage skin shown in some of the screenshots is extremely impressive. 🙂

    Looking forward to put this one through it’s paces. If it’s like the DCS K4 I think I’ll like it – the monster torque in that little airframe makes it a very engaging aircraft to fly. The IL2 K4 is a little too tame by comparison – but then again most aircraft are in that sim (although I still love playing it, multiplayer is pretty unbeatable)
