The latest Local Legend airplane release is out and number 10 is the Boeing 307 Stratoliner. This legend lets you fly the first pressurized airliner and here are the details.

Boeing’s Stratoliner

Have you ever wanted to fly a B-17? This isn’t it but its closely related! The Boeing 307 Stratoliner was closely based on early models of the B-17 with its first flight happening on December 31, 1938. The type would go through teething issues including high profile crashes and redesign of the tail section and engine heaters before entering service with Pan American Airways on July 4, 1940. Only ten were built and only 1 survives in a museum.

The Microsoft Flight Simulator version looks to pack the usual array of features for a Local Legend aircraft and has been developed by Aeroplane Heaven, much like the recently released Trimotor.

It’s available for $14.99 USD in the marketplace.

Cool but semi-tragic history – very surprised only 10 were built, especially given its many interchangeable parts with the B-17 (especially as the war ran on…)

Has a decent cruise speed of 220kts at 20k, so not too shabby of a touring aircraft.

Pretty good sounding old school airliner to me. I’m going to have to spend a bit of time with it at some point!
