It is night and the night belongs to us
There’s something about the story of the Night Witches that sounds through history. Flying the U-2VS at night in a challenging situation making use of the cover of darkness to achieve mission objectives is fascinating to the historian in me.
Utopioneer, creator of the Flight School campaign, has come out with a free Night Witches campaign that captures this kind of flying. There are 7-missions and they are set through the course of a single night making this campaign a very interesting slice in time.
Here’s the description:
The spring rains have arrived, and with them the mud. We’ve spent all winter pushing the Germans back, but the earth has been churned into a soggy mess and it stopped the advance. In the slow ebb and flow of fighting, one regiment has been left stranded and surrounded in Krymskaya. With no access to an airfield, we must push back, hold off a German counter-offensive, and buy our brothers time to link up.
