A new update for IL-2 Sturmovik: Great Battles is out and it packs a bunch of feature updates and three new airplanes: the Li-2, Nieuport 17 and Fokker D.II. Let’s have a look!
Update (Sept 22): This article has been updated after it was rightly pointed out that the author switched Albatross for Fokker in his head. The brain cells responsible for this error have been sacked.
Three new airplanes, plus new features
The Flying Circus Vol 3 aircraft set is growing quickly with the addition of the Albatross D.II and the Nieuport 17. Both of these well known WWI fighters add to the ranks of Flying Circus Vol 3. Meanwhile, the Lisunov Li-2 Collector Plane has also arrived. This DC-3 license built aircraft was shoehorned into everything from transport to bomber duties and is now available to fly.

A short cinematic video showing off the Li-2 has been released too.
Meanwhile there are also several other updates with plenty of changes and improvements to the career mode. Updates include changes to free hunt missions, the addition of enemy night fighters during night missions, and fighter cover has been added for transport missions.
There’s also a new control added to the controls mapping – the ability to press the fuel quantity button. This is a small but nice feature to finally have. Previously, on aircraft such as the Spitfire the fuel quantity could only be seen every minute or so on an automatic cycle with your virtual pilot pressing the fuel quantity button. This has now been made into a key bind so you can check it yourself!
