DCS Christmas sale is on

If you’ve been keeping an eye on a DCS module and missed the last couple of sales, now might be your chance as the next DCS World sale has arrived.

Festive sale pricing

The usual sale pricing is in effect starting today and going until January the 7th, 2024 at 15:00 GMT. That means 50% off on quite a few modules, maps, and campaigns with other more recent releases seeing smaller discounts in the 20-30% off range. Pre-orders and early access discounts that are currently in effect are not applicable. On sale aircraft span the range from Eagle Dynamics types like the Spitfire, Mi-24, and F/A-18 to Heatblur’s F-14 and AJS-37, Magnitude 3’s MiG-21,

Notably, RAZBAM is not participating in this sale. This is the second or third DCS World sale that they haven’t put any of their modules up for sale. The F-15E is, in the meantime, still offering a healthy discount for early access.

The sale is only up on the DCS World e-Shop at the moment. SteamDB reports that the next Steam sale begins in 3-days so I expect that we’ll see similar discounts on Steam shortly.

    Not sure why RB isn’t in the sale, even the older stuff. Seems a bit… haughty.

    Not sure there’s anything left I want. But considering the Christen Eagle. It’s about $20 on sale and it is kinda cool. And it’s good to support “out of the box” modules. Hell, I’ll bet if someone made a really nice 172 it would sell very well.

      It does indeed seem a bit strange. Pretty sure stuff like the Mirage 2000 was in the 50% bracket last time they fully took part in a sale (first half of this year?). Kind of regret missing out when it was that low as I half-fancied it to pad out the current module collection.

      I can perhaps understand them swerving some of the sales later in the year because it feels like there have been an awful lot of them in the last few months (and it must be hard to shift licences at fuller prices except for new releases now because there is seemingly always a sale around the corner). Completely blanking the Xmas sale seems very strange though.

        Yeah the Mirage 2000C has typically been available at 50% off. It and the AV-8B were early purchases for me and I definitely benefited from the sales at the time. RAZBAM have put a lot into both modules so I can see them not wanting to maybe lose too much on the discounts but I know from other markets that sales also drive customer buy in for future products so its a delicate balance.

        RB puts out great stuff, but they haven’t always been great in the PR department. (I’m being very polite because this is a polite site.)

        Probably just dismissing the customer base again.

      To be fair to the MB-339, it is a good module. But when you compare prices and experiences… it’s probably too close in price.

        Yeah, the MB-339 and the Jeff are the only modules I don’t have yet I believe. Been sorely tempted by the MB-399 but the price, even on sale, is probably just a whisker over my impulse buy price.
        The Jeff looks interesting, but not different enough from the Viper and Hornet from my (quite probably naïve) PoV. Yes, I know there are test drives and if I had a spare couple of weeks I’d definitely go for that but I find I need at least that long to get a sense for how much enjoyment I’ll get out of a module so I’m saving that for when I know I don’t have any deadlines or time away from my computer. Also, I’ve barely touched my Apache and F-15E, so really. I can wait a bit, perhaps!

        The MB-339 is nicely put together. I just had it on free trial. But it really is the price that kills it for me. Maybe I’m a cheapskate, but it’s a bit expensive and, and stated, too much for an impulse buy. On the main site it’s the same price as the Viper and Hornet and considerably more than the other trainers.

        I don’t want to disrespect the devs, they are good guys and the plane was a labour of love, but price has a bearing on things. And the 339 is a niche plane in a niche market. Spudknocker’s survey showed it was the least owned module. Maybe that’s a hint.

        For sure! I’m only bringing it up because I want it 🙂
        I have the other trainers, too, and really enjoy them.
        I think that whenever the 339 hits that “price is right” feeling for me, I’ll have a lot of fun with it 🙂
