If you tried to login to DCS World last night or this morning and were met with error messages and deactivated module access, you’re not alone. Eagle Dynamics reports that they are currently experiencing a database failure that are affecting their website as well as DCS module access. Here’s what we know right now.

Update: February 12 at 5:22 pm EST

Database restoration in progress

Over the last several hours, Eagle Dynamics has been experiencing what they report is a database failure. The failure is affecting their website as well as in-game module access and authorization. It’s, fortunately, not affecting their forums which are a separate service.

A message has been posted by the company on their Facebook page indicating the problem.

Dear Fighter Pilots, Partners and Friends,

We are currently experiencing a database failure and the team are working on restoring a backup.

As soon as we are up and running again we will let you all know

Eagle Dynamics

Last night the website was up by any attempt to access user accounts or the store was met with a timeout error. Attempting to do an update was also met with a 500 Internal Server Error message, a generic message that simply means that something went wrong. It seems that the issues go a little further than that as offline mode is supposed to allow you access in the event of a server failure but that system is also not working.

Eagle Dynamics community manager BIGNEWY reported that the issue has also been reported.

yes there is an issue with offline auth currently, I have reported it.

The last update we’ve had is that the database restoration is currently underway from backup but there is no restoration ETA. In my experience, databases like these ones can be quite large and can take hours to restore when there’s a complete failure like this one and typically the integrity of the backups needs to be checked as well. Hopefully all goes well and in a few more hours DCS World will be back up and operational.

Update: Servers are back up

Good news coming from Eagle Dynamics that the servers and database have been restored and all should be well again.

logins and servers are back online, some purchases from yesterday may not show for a day or two, but if you have problems please contact support directly they are ready to assist.

  3. Seems to be up again. I became a little excited, assuming it was the big update. Dammit. I try not to get wound up by the thought of shiny shiny new stuff, I still haven’t explored most of what’s already there :D.
