If Polychop Simulation’s teaser video a few days ago is to be believed, we’re now under two weeks to release of the DCS: OH-58D Kiowa Warrior. Content is going to start appearing all over the place over the next few weeks I’m sure and leading the charge is Casmo with this great cinematic video. Let’s have a look!

A taste of the action

We’ve had some great discussions here on Stormbirds recently about the usefulness and potential of the DCS: OH-58D Kiowa Warrior. While some prefer the capability of the Apache, others are drawn to the relative simplicity and scouting nature of the Kiowa. Casmo’s video, simply titled “First Mission in the Kiowa Warrior” gives us a great look at how both helicopters can function in DCS World with the Kiowa’s scouting and providing surveillance information before engaging targets on their own and then calling in Apache’s to help clean up the situation.

Casmo has pretty high praise for the module in the video’s description too saying the following:

I flew the Kiowa Warrior in the US Army for 10 years and deployed to combat twice in this aircraft. I can say that this missions experience rivals any training I conducted in the Army.

Casmo

Anyways, enough with the preamble. Watch the video!

Even if Apache is your style, working with the scout helicopters on various missions will provide plenty of interesting experiences with the two modules flying together. Looking forward to that!

  1. I’m not a flight simmer myself but the f-4 and the Kiowa really have me considering getting into it! I’ve been following this blog and DCS in general since the f-14 but these last few releases, along with the Apache already in the game have me more excited than ever. Thanks for providing such concise and informative post about flight simming, it’s been very helpful for understanding the state of the game as an outsider.

Hi Zane! Thanks for being a reader! It’s very gratifying to hear that the content on this site has proven useful to you. I hope one day you get a chance to jump in and start flying the sim of your choice. DCS is plenty complex but if you love flying these aircraft you’ll get the hang of it!
