A new feature is coming up soon now available for DCS: AH-64D. This new Radar Map Mode (or RMAP) to generate a radar-image of the terrain. Interesting. Let’s have a look!

Update: This feature is now available for DCS: AH-64D. Not coming soon as previously reported.

New video showing off a new mode

Both the CPG and the pilot can access and make use of the new RMAP or Radar Map Mode for the DCS: AH-64D Apache. While the FCR is useful for detecting and classifying ground targets, the new RMAP mode will map out the terrain ahead. Great if you want to identify something like an industrial site or an airbase from the looks of it.

Watch the video and see how it all works! From the sounds of it, it’ll be pretty useful together with target identification in the other mode.

Look for this feature soon! This feature has already been released in the August update!

Also, is that the Iraq map in the background? The area doesn’t look familiar to me. See what you think and let me know in the comments!

  1. Could be Iraq, or maybe a new updated part of the Afghan map. I don’t know.

The Apache and the Warthog are the gifts that keep on giving. So bloody complicated that every time I fly them they feel new, like I just bought them yesterday. 🙂

RMAP is already in the game, it was added in the August 9th patch. Wags made a post in the AH-64 forum section apologizing for a lack of video “due to illness and time limitations”, and included a PDF of the new manual pages showing how it works. https://forum.dcs.world/topic/280176-dcs-ah-64d-mini-updates/page/3/#comment-5498544

  5. The various radar stuffs, combined with the low light / thermal systems, are the thing that may finally pull me out of the Black Shark.

But for daylight raids? The ‘Shark it shall remain 🙂
