Following the re-release of PMDG’s 737-700 a few weeks ago, the company has been rolling out updates across their 737NG line to include the -600 and -900 variants now fitted with what the company calls their high detail update. Let’s have a look a the update and some of the other changes.

Model updates

Ranked second most popular among Navigraph’s recently released community survey, PMDG’s 737NG line is a significant portion of the airliner community and so any significant update like this one is newsworthy. The high detail update is a reported rebuild or upgrade of the 737NG visuals from their 2020 versions to the 2024 versions. Three of the four variants, most recently the -900, have now seen the changes implemented with only the -800 remaining.

The changes are widespread including textures, materials and model work. It also means that the included liveries in the PMDG Ops Centre software have been updated to accommodate the changes to the models. It’s likely that old liveries downloaded from other sources will need updates too so beware of that.

PMDG says a paintkit should be available shortly.

Other notable updates

Some other updates coming to us from PMDG’s Robert S. Randazzo include a reminder that the old Operations Center 2.0 has reached end of life. This won’t affect MSFS 2020 and 2024 users (who can take advantage of the newer OC3 software) but FSX and P3D users may have to perform more manual adjustments of their software and liveries.

Robert also reports that PMDG are working on sorting out the WASM related crashes that some users are reporting with their software.

We have a significant engineering effort taking place behind the scenes to see if we cannot knock down the rate of instances on WASM crashes in the MSFS 2024 environment. I am telling you that this effort is underway so that you are aware that this is currently the #1 strategic objective for the dev team- and we are determined to do everything we can to ensure that our products are not the source of these joy-killing crash outs that affect simmers at random intervals.

The PMDG airliners are not the only ones to see WASM related crashing though we have seen iniBuilds and others report progress in knocking down the number. Here’s hoping that PMDG can do the same.
